Title: Oppo Watch X Global Debut in Malaysia, Tipped for China Release with eSIM and Affordable Price
The tech world was abuzz on the last day of February as the Oppo Watch X made its grand entrance in Malaysia. This wearable device had previously been revealed as the OnePlus Watch 2 at MWC 2024. Recent reports suggest that this smartwatch will soon be available in China, and a reliable source has even disclosed the launch date and price point.
According to the latest rumors from Digital Chat Station, the Oppo Watch X will be launched in China on March 22. It is essential to note that this date is tentative and could be subject to change. Moreover, the source claims that the Chinese variant of the Oppo Watch X will support eSIM technology, which is an exciting addition.
The price for this feature-packed smartwatch in China is expected to be around ¥1,000 (approx. $140). For context, the global variants of the Oppo Watch X and the OnePlus Watch 2, without eSIM, are priced around $300. The significant price difference between the international and Chinese versions can be attributed to the software platform used in China – ColorOS Watch based on AOSP, which does not require Oppo to pay hefty licensing fees to Google for Wear OS 4.
Despite the differences in software and the addition of eSIM, the Oppo Watch X Chinese variant is predicted to have identical hardware specifications as its global counterpart. This includes a 1.43-inch circular AMOLED display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon W5 Gen 1 chip, 2GB RAM, 32GB storage, IP68 rating, MIL-STD-810H certification, WiFi, Bluetooth, GNSS, a speaker, a microphone, a 500mAh battery, and 7.5W charging support.
